Here is a card that I made for a challenge at my local craft store. For a while they would run a challenge in which they would tell you what supplies to use and if you can make a card with those supplies you get enter into a raffle.
In this case, we needed to use Lawn Fawn “Life is Good” stamps and dies along with this shaker dome (made by Tonic). We could use other supplies as well but it had to include these elements. Challenge accepted!
I started by making the whole front scene, except for the shaker dome. I used gold paper for sand and die cut it using the stitched hillside border (Lawn Fawn). I adorned it with some shells and beach themed die cuts to finish off the look, and I gave some of them a smooth look with glossy accents. All of the stamps are from the same set called “Life is Good”. The clouds were stenciled on with VersaMark and then heat embossed in white for some added texture.
When the scene was complete, I used a circle die (just bigger than my dome) and die cut it where I wanted it. I then recessed this piece to the inside of the card. I added some sand and glitter and covered it with the dome.
For the sake of honesty, this card took many tries to get just right. The sand would clump together in the dome and the glitter would over power it. I solved this by sifting some power (from a powder tool) into it. This was a fun card but I’m not sure when or if it will be given to somebody. I hope my local craft store does more of these challenges soon.
